Want to get a good running watch!!!

what i want is the garmin 405 what i can afford is the garmin 50!!!!:( (no offence to 50 owners)

Can anybody recommend ones outside of the garmin range that have the ability to tell you how far you have run. was looking at the timex one but i want something that can transfer the data fairly easy!!

There´s a Garmin 60 coming out in June that looks pretty good. Looks like it´s basically the newer version of the 50. Don´t really know about other makes.

Save for few months and buy a 405. This is the business!.
I am still amazed by its features and accuracy.

how often does the 405 need to be charged and how does it charge itself? is it practical as an everyday watch?

The 405 has a special usb that clips on to the watch and can be either pluged into a PC or a mains adapter (supplied). Full recharge probably takes no more then 60 mins (usually do this when I am uploading latest training data) and in watch mode will last 7 days approx. but once the GPS mode is activated the battery life is only 8 hrs.

I recently bought a 305, very happy with it and not much of a difference between the 305 and 405. What sealed the deal for me was trying on the 305, it looks massive online but feels grand and light on the wrist.
It has a big screen for lots of info fields and has buttons that are easy to find when tired in the rain.

I personally find it too big as an everyday watch, especially if you were long sleaves shirts.
