Had an entry to the WW200 - unable to take it up and have passed it on. This was to be my first such event and having trained a bit would like to attempt something similar. Possibly going to try for the Sean Kelly, but are there any other similar events over the summer?

get a few mates, make some sambos and go for a 200km cycle?

    True -

Pros for the "Tour de somewhere with sambos":
    No Entry Fee
No travelling to start point at an ungodly hour
No endless hours pouring over websites / mapmyride etc. for correct routes
    No nervous build - up
No waiting for the number in the post
No discussion of what to wear / how much hair / how much air and so on
No disappointment at poor quality produce at feed stations
No worries about getting lost - "we were meant to do 278.23 k today"
If the hill looks too tough - it was not on the route

    Cons:
No bragging rights - "yep, doin the 200 with some mates and sambos" just doesn't have the same ring to it
Waiting for the number in the post
Tough hills have to be tackled - see bragging rights
    Making the sambos
Most of the Pros actually (see above)
    Finding mates

    What was this post about?

    is really useful

i actually didnt think their were many sportive type events until i saw that trying to work out what distances i will be fit for is the hard part

Thanks lads - the Martin Codyre looks like a good local option, I think I will give it a lash. Follow with the Ring of Kerry and Sean Kelly, and the summer is sorted. Sorted in a few minutes on a pc - this internet thing could be big....
