Hey, my ex-boss recently gave me my P45.. but what happens to the colored copied P45 forms (think they were pink and yellow?) my ex-boss claims she needs to send both away, did she do the right thing in giving me the original white P45 form and keeping the other two?

I handed my P45 into the Social Welfare Office and am now worried that I might not get it back as a neighbour told me I was supposed to get my P45 AND a one of copied P45's :O

I was given Pink, Green and Yellow copies by three different employers,
    in 2001, 2003 and 2004.
Pink is "PART 2", Green is "PART 3", and Yellow is "PART 4"
So I assume the White form was "PART 1".

    Thanks for that PhotosMobilePho! :)

These "parts" they're just copies of the original white/part one, right?

Just to clarify, I got 3 coloured copies each time.
After reading my message, I thought it could be misunderstood as meaning I got a pink form one year, a green one next time and a yellow one the time after that.

Yes, the original White form was hand-written with a biro and the writing transferred through to the coloured forms. All the pages are stuck together along the left hand side, and they can be pulled apart to separate them.

Your boss messed up, but it shouldn't be too big a deal, just get in touch with your tax office to be sure. Your boss should have kept part 1 (white) to send that off to the tax office, and given you parts 2, 3, & 4 (coloured). Parts 2 &3 would be handed to a new employer, part 4 to the social welfare people normally, but once the tax office are happy they can sort you out for the other parts.

You've been a great help PhotosMobilePho, thanks!..

I've tried looking this up on the net but found nothing. Is she legally bound to gave me all the colored pages/copies of my P45? And if so why lie about having to send them away?

Ah, she is new to all this too. I'll visit the tax office tomorrow so, might just ring the ex-boss first to make sure she said the colored parts away! Really hope it's not such a big deal.

    Thanks Johnmb :)
