hi ladies, I have worn the american dreams human hair clip in extensions available from salon services in the past.
They were fine i liked how i could give my scalp a break and take them out if i needed.
exactly a year ago i got a short crop haircut (which was awful) and ive grown it out to the nape of my neck (or bottom of my neck) by now. Im really tired of this in between stage,,, my question is can you recommend a brand of clip ins or should i go for the sew ins.
Im in limerick but i'll be in dublin this weekend.
Just looking for any general advice too.
    Thanks in advance x

TBH Iv used both, Iv had the sewn in ones a number of times and each time you get them out afterwards your hair is left is tatters.
iv switched to the clip in ones now and just use them for nights out, there really handy and done damage the hair at all so Id go for them :)

Would you consider glue in ones? Cinderella hair are meant to be really good.
They would last about 3 months but they come at a price (between €500 and €900 for full head depending where you go)

I would be afraid that the glued in ones would be like little knots in my scalp. I also straighten my hair and think it would be difficult with my curly roots to straighten the top of my hair, Thanks for the suggestion though every piece of advice is appreciated.

Also with the glue in ones, my sister had them and when getting them taken out they take out half your own hair too

    thats actually not true.
you naturally loose say i dunno the right stat >10 hairs a day.
those hairs that would fall out naturally get caught in the glue.
when you get the extensions out 3 months later it obviously looks like you lost alot of hair but its not because of the extensions

Actually it IS true and it IS because of the extentions!!
Iv seen it happen, the glue disolver doesnt take away all the glue so some of the natural hair gets pulled out aswell!

well,as they say, if done right then it shouldnt happen.

I have had the sewn in and the ice extensions (the newest version of the glue extensions with a caplule of glue holding the extension to your hair) i would defo recommend the clip in or sew in extensions, i paid about 500 euro for a half head of non shed of ice extensions, took really good care of them and they were hairs all over the house from them!!! Literally every time i brushed my hair you could hear the extensions cracking and the brush would be covered in hair! They were meant to last for 3 months and then i was going to get a top up but they were falling out after a few weeks, a friend of mine had them done around the same time and she had the same problem:eek: when i had them taken out it was sooooooo sore!!!they crack the ice capsule and use dissolvant but they still pull out some of your hair and my hair was all brittle and cracked after them!

The clip in are the best option because they are so easy to use, even the sew in ones get annoying after a while and they grow out with ur hair so they get loose!!!hope they go well for you!!:D

were you holding your extensions at the top when you brush them?
I did a training course and we have to teach clients who get it done to correctly brush the extensions with the correct brush and how to wash and dry the hair properly.
I can't imagine how you could hear the extension glue cracking if you were to hold the hair just below it and the correct way to brush them is to start at the bottom and brush all the knots out and work your way up.
It is true that alot of natural hair loss comes out with the glue in extensions when they are removed. They are the easiest to remove after the full 3 months, any earlier is alot harder to get the glue off.

Don't get glue in extensions! They are the most damaging for your hair and you have to be really careful when using heat (hairdryer, GHD) on your hair because you can quite easily melt the bonds.

Get micro-ring extensions, they last longer and aren't damaging. Oh, and go to the North or the UK to get them done. 5-900 euro?! You can get a full head of micro ring extensions for £300-400 in the UK...!

oh i'm not gettin them done ha ha i'm just contributing t the thread ;)
ye the price for extensions is mad but i suppose you have to pay for human hair. You just need to be sure that you're paying for the good stuff and not the cheap knock off

Hi!!no it wasnt the glue cracking but i could hear the hair in the extensions cracking when i brushed them. I used to hold the top of the hair aswell when i brushed them but it didnt seem to stop it breaking :( i had them taken out after about 2 and a half months!!Gonna stick to the clip in ones from now on neway!!!:P

Hair does not cost hundreds of euros. You're paying to be ripped off, as with most things in Ireland.

How can extensionists in Ireland justify charging double what those in the UK charge?

well to cover costs and to make a profit.
you are of course free to shop around. but costs are high in ireland and 500 euro can be easily justified. salons charging 900 would be situated in more expensive areas and hence charging more to cover higher rent costs etc.
I'm sorry I can only comment on the protein bond extensions (referred to as glue in ones) as they're the ones I work with and ones I have myself and I take correct care of them as trained and they are absolutely perfect.
Aftercare is the most important thing - how you wash and dry them and how you brush them and to make sure you either wear a soft scrunchie at night or plait them.
I've never had micro ring but sounds interesting :)

    Ok Im the O.P
Well thanks for all your advice i've decided to stick with the clip ins for now.
I'm just back from town where i visited Sallys Salon services, now i find when i visit i either get good customer service or terrible but i didnt have much choice so in i went. I looked at the American dream ext, they were 27.99 per pack with very little in the pack , I'd need about 4 at least. A staff member walked past me i said "excuse me" she looked at me out of the corner of her eye and kept walking, I said " can i just ask you about these extensions?" she looked at me pissed off and said " ya just wait a few minutes im busy". walked back to the stock she was unpacking and started opening boxes with scissors. So i told her she was obviously more interested in her box and if too busy to serve me id go somewhere else.
Off i went to the afro caribbean shop where i got 4 feet of 18 inch human hair incl clips for 70 euro. Its silky and great quality.
Sorry for the rant but for I have worked in retail for 17 years and it boils my blood when people are rude for no good reason.
