    Hey all,
Is anyone going to be getting any of the games above.
    Release Date 12/06/2009
    http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/Action/~r333356/Prototype/

    Release Date : 29/05/2009
    http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/Action/~r341602/InFamous/

Both games kind of have the same type of story.
A guy get super powers. Will he use them for good or Evil.

Has anyone heard much about each. I know there is alot out there about InFamous but what about Prototype...?

Put your thoughts on a post card.

I tried the Infamous Demo and it seems ok, more like Crackdown than anything in how the powers and you interact with the city. I haven't seen any large scale destruction, and people aren't people so much as little figures who run around waving their arms. I was a bit disappointed there, I was hoping the citizenry would have a bit more character, and maybe you could blow up some buildings in the area.

The powers are amazing though, they look fantastic, dropping from a height and releasing a sort of energy explosion feels totally badass. Electrocuting people is a lot of fun, and maybe the skating on powerlines will be a bit more fleshed out later in the game.

I might get it, but it's not top of my list.

    Have both games pre-ordered.

Obviously inFamous will be talked about for a while as it is the first out but I am looking forward to Prototype more. Not sure why, but I get the feeling Prototype will be darker and more action packed.

Either way, as I said, I'm getting both. Recession be damned!

inFamous dosent seem to do it for me. I like the idea behind Prototype
'The whole game is built around the idea of "weaponizing" yourself. Mercer can absorb his enemies, taking on their memories and appearance.'

I think that is a great idea.

it's inFamous all the way for me, I'll probably rent Prototype at some stage unless the reviews are steller. After playing the inFamous demo I've fallen in love with it! I just looked at a few vids of Prototype again and it just doesn't seem half as polished, just in terms of graphics, animation, voice-acting, fighting mecahnics and stuff. Infamous controls are so fluid and the animation seamlessy moves from one action to the next so it just adds to the whole sense of it free-flowing. I was mistaken in the inFamous thread thinking Prototype was all melee-combat based, was watching a vid there where he uses traditional weapons like rocket launchers and stuff. But if anything this takes away from the whole supe-powered revelry! Lol. Also the parkour gameplay in Prototype looks a bit clunky next to inFamous. It looks like it'll be easier to get around the city, but that's taking away one of my favourite parts of the inFamous demo, clambering around the buildings a la Assassin's Creed.

If I had to guess on reviews I'd wager that inFamous will be getting around 8/10 to 9/10 and Prototype 7/10 - 8/10. So I imagine it'll be a case of whatever floats your boat. I'm just glad we have the choice between the two! Shame they're both being released so close to each other, because one or both of the games is going to suffer because of it and I imagine it'll be inFAMOUSE because it's not multiplatform. I'm guessing this is why the pushed forward the release date a couple of weeks too.

I thought the movement in Infamous was a little stop start. LEAP to ledge, hang for a sec, LEAP to ledge. And I felt like I lost a little momentum at odd moments, like turning suddenly, landing after a railrun or whatever. The cutscenes look fantastic though.

Infamous is already getting 9s on review sites.

It is at the start, but after you've played for a while it gets a lot smoother as you get better at stringing together moves. I think it'd be fairly hard to get it completely seemless. After my like 4th hour with the demo I was grinding along wires, leaping off, soaring over a roof top, blasting a guy in mid-air and landing on another wire to grind along to the next rooftop. Of course every now and then I'd hit a bit where it's gets momentarily clunky but overall I think the quality of the animation, movement and controls will make inFamous far more imersive than Prototype. I rented The Godfather 2 this week and found the controls so clunky after playing inFamous all weekend. I imagine I'll find Prototype similar.

Which is partly the reason I was so confident in my predictions lol. I'd hazard a guess that a big feature of Prototype's reviews will be that it does a lot of things right, has a few neat innovations and is enjoyable enough but there'll be a few major flaws that aren't game-breakers but stop it from being great and it doesn't do enough with the innovations blah blah blah. A bit like Assassin's Creed or the kinda reviews that Bionic Comando is getting a the mo. I'd say it'll be a solid enough game.

Just an FYI, both of these games are PS3 exclusives.

Are you sure? I was in Xtravision over the weekend and they had the pre-order boxes and it was an Xbox 360 case, in fact the one in the PS3 section even had it as a 360 box lol!

    No, Prototype is multi-platform:

Well I wouldn't say way off, they're not releasing it on the Dreamcast or anything. You just missed one platform lol.

Haha nicely said :p. Anyways I will probably end up with both games, I need to look at some more videos of prototype as I am not sure what it is like. inFAMOUS is amazing though and should beat prototype, but who knows untill both are released.
