Guitarist in Cork Seeks Others For Original Material

Lead/Rhythm guitarist available in Cork. I'm 23. I like a lot of different things ranging from Black Metal bands like Emperor to bands like U2. My favourite guitarist/largest influence would be David Gilmour from Pink Floyd and Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth. It's hard for me to pin down what my tastes are like per se.

Musicianship wise, i've been playing guitar since i was 15 or 16. Completely self taught and more than competent. Have all my own gear aswell.


Right now i'm interested in playing music in the vein of Katatonia, Anathema, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride. I''ve been recording stuff on and off for the last 2 years or so but I finally somewhat decided on a direction to take. It'll probably be a mix of Katatonia's Last Fair Deal Gone Down, Discouraged Ones, Anathema's Judgement, A Fine Day to Exit and My Dying Bride's The Dreadful Hours and With Lies I Sire.

I want to try and keep things fairly melodic sounding but not at the usual slow tempo that Doom is usually set to, hence the big smatterings of Katatonia and Anathema.

I'm going to be working on the originals during the summer so hopefully i'll come out with 3 or 4 strong tracks by August.

Basically i'm looking for other musicians, a bassist, other guitarist, vocalist and drummer. All ages considered as long as the person is a competent musician.

Hi im trying to get a band off the ground or join a new Group. Influences are Metallica, Marilyn Manson,Guns n Roses, Ramstein, The Prodigy, Nirvana along those line but im willing to try any type of music,. Im 26 playing since im 12 did a few small gigs when i was younger but on my own for a good few years now.Im no satriani but i can play.. Sounds good Paul. Like I said in my original post, I have a certain direction which my own stuff is heading in but obviously i'm open to input. I'll give you a text later on.

Ok. What kind of music/bands would you listen to mostly? Also where are you based? I live just outside town so I can meet up any time really.

I like rock and blues mostly. I like bands like led zeppelin, jimi hendrix pink floyd, pearl jam, radiohead ad stuff like that i suppose, i'm very open to any kind of music really. I'm am based outside of town and i will come in anytime at all.

Ok cool. I'm a big Floyd and Zeppelin fan myself so good job. We can meet up and have a chat or a bit of a "jam" if you're interested. Also, just wondering if you have much experience on the writing end of things?

Cool just tell when would be convient for you and i'll be there. Yeah i write alot of stuff, i usually make up stuff myself when i'm playing guitar and i compose a few classical compostions.

Cool. Maybe you're free during the week to meet up and maybe have a chat? I have my own recording hardware that I use for demo's etc. It's a Boss digital 8 track but i'm soon upgrading to a completely pro digital setup on my computer.

I'm not sure if you're still free for starting a group, but i'm a 22 very experienced male singer in Cork city. I've had plenty of gigs over the years and can write own material pretty fast when needed.

I've done a range of styles and i'm looking to get back into playing with other people, as it's been months since my last gig. I've got my own mic, and if needed a mini dv camcorder.

I guess i'd say my main influences are Alice in Chains, Leonard Cohen, The Doors, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, there are loads more really.
