My 03 Passat doesn't have any iPod connections - local dealer has quoted me in excess of €150 for connection to rear of radio/CD unit and glove-box cradle (radio controls then usable for iPod operations)

Seems like a lot to me - anyone know of cheaper alternatives / suppliers ?? (excluding the kits that use "blank" FM frequencies - have tried it and it's hit and miss at best ! )

Does it have a standard DIN fit head unit or is it one of those integrated ones?

Sounds quite reasonable to me. You'd do well to find a decent quality ipod interface kit for less than €80. Unless you can fit it yourself you're looking at an hours labour on top. Get a price from a few car audio guys and see how they compare. Price the VW parts from your dealer and get some prices for fitting elsewhere.

My personal taste would be to keep the OEM look and shy away from aftermarket head units.
