RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY – LONDON’S CALLING!
    Application Phase: May 11 – July 27, 2009
Calling all budding producers, musicians, MCs and DJs! The Red Bull Music Academy will teleport to London in early 2010!

Last year, Ireland’s Rory Donohoe & Niall ‘Mano Le Tough’ Mannion jetted off to Barcelona to join other musically inspired and talented people from over 35 countries around the World, at the Red Bull Music Academy workshops in Barcelona.

So if you feel you can cut it at an international level then get your application in straight away, deadline July 27th!
So what’s the Red Bull Music Academy all about?

The Red Bull Music Academy is a musical workshop that travels the world, and the next edition will touch down in one of the world’s greatest cities: London. Somewhere in the heart of that sprawling metropolis, a fantastic complex full of studios and instruments will be built, where the most original and creative minds in music will come together in February and March 2010 to share ideas and work on tunes. Musical legends as well as brand new talents will take the inspiration they gain there and run with it, performing every night at showcases in the best vibe-filled venues London has to offer.

For over ten years now, each new Academy has explored the local musical geography, and chased the most interesting rhythmic threads across space and time. As well as studio time, there are lecture sessions where participants get to hear the answer to every music-related question they ever wanted to ask. The Academy’s renowned guest lecturers have in previous years included Brazilian national icon and tropicalia ambassador Gilberto Gil; hip hop's underground king & No. 1 Southern rapper, Bun B; MPC-architect and inventor of the first digital drum machine, Reggae legends Sly & Robbie and French 'Ed Banger' party-starter DJ Mehdi. Check the Academy website for a full list of around 500 music makers who’ve graced the Academy’s lecture room and studios.

    How do you apply?

From May 11th to July 27th this year, the world’s up and coming producers, instrumentalists, vocalists and DJs worldwide are invited to apply for one of two terms at the Academy in London. To provide a taster of the Academy experience, more than 100 Local Workshop Sessions are already being held all around the world. It’s a rare opportunity for beat makers and music lovers to come together and swap inspiration with full-fledged pioneers of sound.
Red Bull Music Academy will soon be announcing details of a Belfast date, keep your ears to the ground!

Before, after, or without joining a local workshop, they can simply log in to www.redbullmusicacademy.com from May 11th to download the application form.

Red Bull Music Academy Info-session Workshops:

As part of the Application Phase, Red Bull Music Academy will also be hosting two Info-sessions in June, one each in Dublin & Belfast.
The RBMA is all about creating a platform for musical exchange & that’s what the Info-sessions are all about!
They’re open to all & provide details on how to apply, in a fun & informative way…
With only 60 people selected globally from tens of thousands of applicants, only the best make the cut!
The centre-point of the Info-sessions is a Q&A with an invited guest from the Industry.
Last year Dublin hosted Hank Shocklee of Public Enemy & Bomb Squad fame while Belfast’s lucky listeners were wowed by legendary producer Leon Ware. Ware achieved his career high-point in 1976 as producer of Motown legend Marvin Gaye's classic album, "I Want You". He has also worked with such industry heavyweights as Michael Jackson & the iconic Quincy Jones.
This coming June, RBMA Info-sessions will return, watch this space!
