HUMAX Foxsat PVR to Record RTE

I'm considering purchasing a HUMAX Foxsat PVR. I understand that these can only record Satellite channels and since RTE isn't FTA and the Humax box doesn't have a terrestrial tuner you cannot record RTE. But assuming that the Humax box has the ability to record from a line input and if you have an old VCR, you should be able to connect the line output from the VCR to the line input on the Humax box and record. Obviously you wouldn't be able to record in HD or using the EPG, but it would save you from buying a second PVR for terrestrial channels. This would also suit me since my VCR is knackered and doesn't rewinf to well, but the tuner works fine and buying a Humax box is pushing my budget as it is.

I'd appreciate any comments on the feasibility of this.

Also I was at the Richer sounds site and went to order, but I couldn't find a Boards discount, is there a code for it?
    :)

Not possible. The Humax only records channels it broadcasts to the hard drive. It does not record inputs from other devices.

The panasonic PVR with DVDR / Blueray recorder may support recoding from an external source. They are very pricey though.

I'm not sure there's a boardies discount for the PVR - they were doing free delivery for boardsies on it when it was at £282. If you want a boadies price you probbaly have to post to their boards page I think.

The PVR was on the wesite for 259 - it was discounted to 249 on their VIP mailing - just register / login to see if the deal is still on.

i recieved an email from richersounds letting me know that there would be a delay of a couple of days in the box being sent out.

I replied querying about the boards discount, and recieved the free postage.

there was no code on the richersounds website to avail of the discount though.

you will need to send them your boards username so that they can verify it.

They normally charge just £10 for delivery or else nothing if you can pick it up yourself from the Philips Shop on Dame Street, Dublin 2.
