    hi Folks,
I have my Jaguar 1991 XJS the paint work isent bad for a car of that age its just lost its shine. I have been told that i can have a cutting compond used on the car and that would make the car shine with a mirror finish. Is it a good idea? Any advice would be appriciated.
and if so can anyone recommed a paint shop/ garage to take the job on?
    thanks in advance
    Ronan

You can get an electric polishing mop to make the job easier. :)

If you do decide to do it yourself, make sure to repolish it afterwards with a protective polish as you have stripped some of the top layers with the compound.

T-cut for the colour of your car. Lots of elbow grease. Then auto glym wax. Jobs a good 'un

Depends a lot on the paint - if its metallic then I don't fancy your chances.

Try a small inconspicuous area first and see how it goes.

if its 91 then it will be base coat +clear so you will be safe, use FARECLA compo,it does not have ammonia in it like t-cut and others.Machine polishing is best left to a pro because you can burn paint or polish thru on hard edges, but will restore a finish you will never achieve with a hand job might cost a couple of hundred yo yo but well worth it

In my opinion, having some experience with machine and hand polishing.

I think you can polish by hand but it takes a lot of effort, and possibly multiple passes which takes AGES

A risk free method of speeding up the process is using a random orbital polisher which cannot burn the paint.

Meguiars G220 polisher is the one to get.

    Cheers
