    There is a massive demand for City Council seats at the moment There is at least 1 councillor who will lose out with the merging of Wards 3 and 4 into City South with 19 candidates 8 sitting councillors and 7 seats.

    Kieran Walsh is the only sitting councillor not seeking re-election leaving McLoughlin on his own in City East.

    The candidate options by party are below

    Poor old Kieran Walsh. He had a hard time when they put 1/3 of Corbally back into the County Clare electoral area and him being from Shannon Banks did nothing beneficial for his votes as nobody could vote for him.

    We used to call him "shirty". He never did like that nickname. Old school day friends.

    I saw Tina O'Gorman's posters but the above is collated form the Leader website
    "To have 47 people going for 17 seats is an indication of a healthy interest in local politics and local democracy in Limerick," said deputy city manager and returning officer Kieran Lehane as the nominations deadline passed this Saturday.
