Using an Irish DSI in the USA

    Hi Guys,

My daughter bought a new DSI the other day and I was looking at the charger to see if it could be used in the USA as we are going there on Sunday.
It had nothing about 110 volts on it so I presume I will have to pickup a travel charger of some sort for it.

So anyone know where I could pick one up in the next few days cheap?

    Thanks,
    Mark.

You should be able to get one in Dunn*es.

Dunn*es (in the bigger stores anyway) usually have a stand with travel stuff on it like luggage tags, neck pillows etc, in the drapery/household section. There should be one there.

Maplins, if you are near one, would also do them.

Failing the above ring a few local electrical shops and ask if they have them in stock, the likes of Po*wer Ci*ty would have them I think.

    Whats with all the asterisks?

The OP is going to need a different power supply, not just an adaptor. I would have thought the chargers would be 110/230V though, most are these days. If you plug a 220V PSU into a 110V supply you will not get enough power/voltage, sometimes it might work though and just take longer to charge.

My DS PSU broke and I got an old nokia charger of similar voltage and cut the leads and joined it up. My nokia charger is 110/220V

    Thanks guys,

Someone in work told me HMV had travel chargers for the DSI so I will give them a look failing that I could just pick up a Nintendo DSI charger in the US I guess.
