inspiron repair cost?

hi,
Ive a 13 month old Dell Inspiron. Blank screen is the prob. Pc World said €300+ to fix it. is this about right??

Give us a little more detail. Whats the model number? Does the laptop itself sound like it is running, can you hear the hard drive working?

It could be the inverter that gone. Try and see if you can see any image on the screen. Maybe its just the light that is gone.

€300 sound right if it is the motherboard but sounds crazy expensive if it is the screen.

Also does it work if you connect an external monitor?

its an inspiron 6400.
If i put it really really close to the light i can see everything and everything looks perfect but it very hard to see.

I had it connected to my friends desk top and it works perfectly through that!

As mentioned above the Screen and inverter come as one for dell screens. Ya can still get the inverters by themselves on ebay.

ya i spotted one a few of them for my model on ebay.Im from Limerick and a friend of mine works in dell and builts laptops all day. Might get the part n get him to fit it and hope for the best!

You can buy a brand new inspiron for just over €300 in the UK
