Groin strain - advice required

I run four to five miles three or four times a week. I suffered a groin strain two months ago and stopped running until starting back gently two weeks ago without problem. However the discomfort is back so that I can't run now. I would appreciate any insight and advice. Thank you.

    You are not streching properly.

    1. see a physio after that they should give you groin excercise. There is another thread about this already mate!

this is going to get locked!

As the Spy says, maybe try flexing out the groin muscles before running - lunges forwards, sideways, backwards, get them loosened up. After running you might try some hurdle stretches and hamstring stretches.

Not sure about ice though

Sometimes even stretching a groin thats injured can be bad so I would get to see a physio.

No other advice on something like that really.

Yep go see the physio, I suffered with a groin problem for about 2 and a half years, not nice

Thanks for the advice. I went to a physio today. She reckoned that I should have been doing groin and core exercises during the layoff. Apparently my core strength is poor and this contributed to the injury. At least I know where I went wrong and hopefully will be back running in 4-6 weeks.
