Roman Pavlyuchenko was critical of his own performance on Saturday, stressing that his reaction to being substituted was a mark of frustration at himself and not at being substituted.

The Russian international headed straight to the changing room following his withdrawal against Manchester City after 75 minutes.

"During the game I had a couple of chances to score but I didn't take those chances so I was angry at myself when I came off the pitch, not at the decision to replace me," explained Roman.

"I know it was not my best performance but I blame myself for that and nobody else.

"I did not mean to cause offence with my actions and I apologise to my team-mates, the coaching staff and the supporters, who have treated me so well since I arrived.

"To get the opportunity to show my appreciation to the fans during the walk round with my team-mates at the end of the game was a special moment. They have been so welcoming and supportive towards me .

"It is now up to me to go away and work on sharpening up in front of goal."

Cant make my mind up about this fella...

I think Harry was fairly pissed with him.

damage control most probably.... i do believe he was more angry at himself than at being subbed and as far as i can make out he seems to have a fairly nice manner about himself.

I've said elsewhere that i don't think he seems to have any communication or understanding of the rest of the team mates.

There's been speculation that he is struggling with the language, but natural football ability itself almost a language. I'm afraid Pav will be another Rebrov scenario.

Still fair play to him that he showed the humility to apologise in the way he did.

He has, without doubt, great ability and has had some fine games this season. He does'nt seem happy with the rotation system and now Defoe's back after injury, he will find it tougher and tougher to get a regular spot. He'll probably join Harry's "clear out" list at the end of the season along with Bently & Co.

Just reported that Harrys in the hunt for new strikers. He's interested in £12m rated Edin Dzeko from Wolfsberg in the Bundeslega. He's 24 or 25 and Bosnian. Harrys also tracking Goran Pandev from Lazio who will be on Bosnan Free as he has'nt signed a new contract. He's a Macedonian International. Don't know anything about them although Wolfsberg really rate Dzeko.
I do know however, that Sandra Redknapp will score more goals in a Spurs shirt than Bent or Pav next season as they will surely be sold to fund the transfer kitty. Good 'ol Harry.

Cut Pav some slack; it's hard to move to a new place, learn a new language, much less perform with some of best footballers in the world. I would suggest giving the kid another season, and hopefully 'Arry will see that as well.

Yes, I am a bit biased here, but he does have talent and would make a good addition to next year's squad.

    What does everyone else think?

I'd like to see him do well and at times I can see a good player in him but TBH I can't see him being the messiah upfront that we need.

I think he will go in the summer along with a few others, I'll wish him well.

Completely agree with you! He has No communication whatsoever on the pitch! Hell, i'd find it impossible to play with nobody talkin to me (which is essentially what its like for him) We alll know the story of his 1st goal sure! 'Arry tells his translator before the game.."run about"

    I dunno about that now...
