by the sounds of it we are going to have to find a way to use darts pro !!
It looks like it only has a conflict with vista so if we all could use xp somehow we could finish out the tourney

I have a desktop and it runs on xp and i can get dart pro working on that only thing is that its in a different room to my dartboard but i will be running back and forward to throw and score if it means no more malware or virus on my laptop :D

I don't know what to do lads. I suppose the obvious thing is to try and get people to use dartpro but those Vista are having problems.

    I'm open to suggestions!

According to darts pro they know that there is an issue with vista and they say that its because vista has a port closed on our modem which is used by darts pro to communicate with the internet.

They go on to tell us how to open the port and allow communication so we can play remote 501 games .

However i tried all this and allowed Darts pro to communicate through my firewall and i also opened the port used by darts pro and it still doesnt work.

Im hoping they get back to me and are able to resolve this soon

Cheers again Daffy. This is taken from another site, hope it helps.

    icon1.gifUsing dartpro, a picture walkthrough.
First off when you get dartpro, you will not be able to host a server.
You can only join people who are running servers.

Most people try, and run dartpro as a client or server, and then find people can't join them, or they can't join anybody else, this is due to the person running the server not having port 47141 open on the modem-router, and firewall.

    Ok here goes.

    Setting up a server

First off, click on Remote501 at the top.

    1.jpg

Then set your user name, and click next.

    2-1.jpg

Click Act as Server, and click next.

    3-1.jpg

Select public sever, and click next.

    4-1.jpg

    There is more

Select Everybody can connect, and click next.

    5-1.jpg

Now click finish, it may take a few moments for your server to come online.

    6.jpg

This is what it will look like when setup, and someone has joined your server.

To talk to the pearson who has joined, you can type in the box on the lower right, you have to click send, as pressing enter does not work.
To start a game, click new game.

    7.jpg

You can then setup the number of legs, sets and who goes first.

    8.jpg

    Playing as a client

To join a game, click on Remote 501 at the top.

    c1.jpg

Then set your username, and click next.

    c2.jpg

Click Act as Client, and next.

    c3.jpg

Next make sure Encrypted IP is selected, and click Who's online.

Right I remember the last time I was going to use Dartpro I couldn't get it to work. I don't have Vista, I remember there was some issue with the modem that eircom gave me. I have an updated modem so i'll give ita go now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,003 ✭✭✭ratinakeg

This will open up a webpage, this will show the players, be aware that some of these will also be clients, and you will not be able to join there game, this is were a lot of people have problems.

    c6.jpg

Click on the name of the player you want to play.

    c7.jpg

You will then be asked to access your clipboard, you need to allow access.

If you then click back on dartpro, you will then notice there are a string of numbers in the box, you then need to click next.

    c8.jpg

    Then click finish

    c9.jpg

Cheers rat bit i get all the way to the screen that says " to close wizard click finish"

When i click on this it freezes for about 30 seconds then windows throws up a screen sayin datrs pro has stopped working. Please wait while we try to resolve the problem

Then it gives me an option to debug and if i click on this all screens dissappear and thats it!!

I know this thread is for ezchalk but if it can help with the darts pro problem then we wont have to use ezchalk at all :D

Couple of ways to get around your problem , here's the first (easiest!) :

Download this : http://www.teamviewer.com onto both the XP and Vista machines . Its free & works.

It will allow you to use the XP machine as if you were in front of it.

I use norton virus and dont seem to be having any problems as of yet!!
That's probably because norton isn't very good at finding viruses. If I was you, I'd uninstall it and install Avast!, which is free and much better.

I just tried , no luck.

You have to go to your router firewall settings and set to low, I have a netopia router from eircom and thats all I had to do after opening the port.

Your router might not be exactly the same but the one that Ciarraibhoy listed above is going to be very close to it.

Ciarraibhoy yeah I have done the NAT thing on the router. I'm lost at this stage, port 47141 doesn't seem to be open for me.

Right you need to click on define custom service, then make sure Port Forwarding:
Range of Ports is selected and click next. In service name put DARTPRO and in all 3 boxes then put 47141 and click next
