On the way home from work last week, i notice that someone has started selling cars from a well known dealerships closed showroom. On Friday, i notice a name and manufacturers signs going up over the door. After a small bit of digging i find this -
    http://www.patwhitecars.ie/aboutus.html

Its a great thing to see the commitment and determination of these guys, especially after the hit they took having to close the new showroom and losing the Opel and Kia Franchises. Fair play to the man, for taking the risk of dipping back into the trade. Its obviously something he and his staff love doing, so i wish them all the best for the coming months.

Sorry if this has been covered already.

There's interesting times afoot, Blackwater Motors in Cork are opening another VW garage in the old Top Car showroom on Victoria Cross which has been vacant for a long time.

In my opinion ressation is doing a great job now. Its making a clean up. It kill all the worthless businees, and the ones which were decent will survive. It will get the quality mark up.

It harsh, but thats how it works.

Well this fella starting again. Lets see how it will do now. He allready disorves some respect for trying it again.

Wow, fair play to them for taking a chance. I wish them loads of success.

Its great to see it happening - its one of few new businesses i've seen open in recent times.

Maybe I am over simplifying but they closed down (presumably wirh debts) & are now re-opening under a new name?

Thats about it Spud, yes. They've also lost the Opel and Kia franchises.

There are implications to this statement that I'd rather not see elaborated on in this thread please.

Nothing wrong with it, they either took over the dept's or more then likely somebody's personal money has been invested into the company. Which is a very big gamble and fair play to whoever invested in it.

They are in a good position, very little second hand stock so they are not losing anything on the forecourt.

Fair play to anyone starting up a business now. Having said that, I think he is still operating under the same market constraints as he was previously, in particular a credit drought, which will impact on the number of cars he will sell.

Having said that, I always thought that there was a lot more to the industry than selling cars, so I hope he concentrates on where there is money if you offer good value, for example aftersales.

Best of luck to him anyway, he had a great asset in parts with Peter when I was dealing with them...

Just another dealer from the Naas road triangle closing down and opening up down the road a few weeks later. I don't think this is something that should be welcomed as a good news story IMO

Think your wrong there buddy. White Bishop were a very established business, with four franchises at one stage. They had a great customer service reputation.

I think your a bit quick to fire off a stupid statement there IMO.

There's a big difference between main franchised dealers and dealers selling used stock out of a portacabin.

Wow very defensive there buddy. As I said it's my opinion you have yours.
I'd have to agree with McSpud on this one.
I don't see the difference between a maindealer and a portacabin but abviously you guys being in the trade must

Funny that I drove past their empty garage the other day and seen one Leon sitting in a vacant window and thought what the hell?

Great to hear this.. iv been into them a few times in the old showroom and they are a great company to deal with. The thing about Pat White was he started from small and worked his way up to a big business but never ripped off the little guy.

Seems like he took a knock and has just gone back to basics. Hope it works out for him!

So report Drummerboy's post for calling your statement stupid.

I don't mind what he says it's his opinion and I'm certainly not going to report it ! We're on a public forum where people have all sorts of views some I'll like agree with some I wont I think people need to remember that sometimes.[/quote]

bad news this is a privately owned forum and your opinions can be censored if the owners or whoever they delegate so wish it.

my question on this is when white bishop cars closed, what grounds was it for, did the owner just decide to close, bankruptcy, finance companies just go in and clear place ect....

I think this forum is overpoliced in general. It's supposed to be place for a bit of banter and the expression of opinions without having to worry about them.

Libelous statements can't fly anywhere on the site. If you have a problem with the moderation then take it to feedback

I'm locking this thread as it's a trainwreck. Apologies to the OP
