There was mention that Caroline Simons, standing for election to the European Parliment, was using the Presidential Standard. Referenced here:

I was wondering what the legality of someone who is not the President using the Presidential Standard, especially in this context.

The Harp is a trademark and unauthorised use can therefore be prosecuted. The difficulty here is that she was authorised in some shape or fashion.

I don't think so as there have been reports of the posters being removed.

Can you link to where there has been authorisation?

Sorry, my mistake, hadn't really read the other thread, thought she was an outgoing member and using oireachtas paper.

Having seen the image I row backward, quickly.

That is a blatant rip off no excuse.

I had a closer look and there appears to be less strings. However, is this still illegal as it looks enough like it to make people think it was the Presidential Standard without closer inspections. In the same way as i assume i would be illegal for me to release a soft drink called papsi or cok3 or some such?
