    As soon as I saw it I thought about times I've shovelled clay or threw bales of hay, its definitely win. Personally I find the suitcase deadlift interesting, tried it before with a dumbbell but think the bb would be harder, more unstable in one hand.

    Or if you want it more stable I would recommend a tricep bar.

    You will grab the smooth part of the bar in the middle. This lowers the centre of gravity of the wieghts, it also raises the bar up higher (they talk of using farmers walk bars.)

    I used to lift like this doing 1 arm shrugs. The lower centre of gravity also means it is much easier to assist with your free arm if needed.
