Hi, not sure if this is the right forum, so if not, please move, mods.

I'm looking to store winter duvets and they are BULKY! There were some sort of vaccuum bags advertised a while ago but I didn't pay attention then - and now I want them! Anyone know where I can get them, or even what they are called. (They're not vaccuum cleaner bags, just big plastic bags you can vaccuum all the air out of, so that the duvet becomes a quarter of its size)

    Thanks!

You can get them in Argos too. Just watch out where you're putting them. I had my old season duvet in one, had hoovered the air out of it and stuck it under the bed. Then comes the time to get it out and I discover its un-vaccummed itself and is stuck fast under the bed. Had to cut the bag up to get it out!.

Homebase have them too, and their's have a 3 year guarantee and are nice an strong, which is probably worth it. Some of the ones I've seen are seriously light and flimsy.

(and no, I'm not connected to them ^^)

    Great idea, those vacuum bags

    BUT

they do seem to re-inflate after a while.

Anyone recommend a good brand that'll keep airless and shrunk longtime as I've got a big duvet and a small storage space (ooh er, missus) in an awkward place?

You can make your own "vacuum bags" too - just stuff the duvet in a thick bin bag, stick the nozzle of the hoover in and suck out the air. Tie the top and wrap the bag in wide cellotape several times to hold the seal. We transported a sheepskin rug from New Zealand in our suitcase this way and it took up almost no space at all and held the seal for our 3 week trip.
