The new track is great but the weather was a killer.

Claire Bergin looked really good running a 54.5 practically solo and also ran 11.90 into a -1 headwind. Mens 400 was the best quality race of the day. Nick Hogan went for it and went through 200 in around 22.4, 300 in 34 ish but was closed down by Brian Murphy and Gordon Kennedy with Murphy edging it in 48.23. Mark Hanrahan ran a strong 3:49 with Conor Healy getting a PB I think in 3:51. Good to Adrian O' Dwyer and Martina McCarthy back on a track!

Track is great but no shelter from the rain and the timetable was overrun. Too many lower quality races for what should be one of our flagship events.

I presume the conditions werent fantastic but did the athletes find the track fast?Im presuming athletes will be looking for alot of competitions there for qualifying times for championships to save them a bit of travelling during the season.
What did Adrian jump? Even though he is eccentric he was/is a class act.I remember him beating Eoin Leen in a 56lb distance competition in the league one year and beating me in the javelin from a standing throw!:o

Jumped 2.00 but don't think he pushed it.

Track is fast. On a good day it will be blistering I'd imagine.

    Full Results

Aoife Hickey's hammer result stood out for me. 52.51m is just under a two-metre improvement on her PB from last year, and let's hope she adds another bit onto that mark as the season progresses. She's just 18/19 too, so good to see more throwers coming through.

Claire Wilkinson cleared 3.70m for the second time in recent weeks.

Edit: My mistake, Aoife Hickey had thrown 53.19m at the Kilkenny Championships two weeks ago.

Great to see Martina Mcarthy back,be intersting to see her improve as the season progresses.
Mark Hanrahan in great shape after a spell in South Africa raining at altitude.
Was a poor turn out in the 5k,think this was changed from a 3k which was a poor decision in my opinion.
Next weeks IMC 3k going to be class with Campbell pacing @ 8.10 pace and a good field is expected.

Forgot about Claire. Amazing looking athlete and if she continues going where she is going she will break 4m. If not this season maybe next.

Tall and strong she has the look of Isinbayeva!
