Hi I have taken the plunge and have decided to join a local gym
Was enquiring about prices and they told me to call in and view the facilities and bring some gear for a trial.
Going calling in tomorrow to see what its like and was wondering what sort of gear to bring for the gym.
Thinking something like a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms and swimming gear for the pool.
Have you any advice on what sort of the questions to ask them as im a complete newbie.

Did they tell you the price over the phone?
While it's good they you are getting a trial it sounds like you are going to get some hard selling tactics from a "membership consultant"

Your gear sounds fine, bring a towel in case they don't provide them.
And sign nothing unless you are convinced it's a good deal, a 12 month contract will work out as a lot of money. So haggle hard :)

Also, it's good that you are going on a Monday evening. That and Tuesday tend to be peak times, you'll see if you have to queue for anything

Your gear sounds fine. If your a total newbie consider the following..

    Water.
    Euro coin for the locker.
    Swimming cap.

Dont bring payment details so you are not coerced into membership.

Don't act too impressed, you might be more likely to get a discount!

Also check they have everything you need, it is bizarre the tales of these "gyms" that don't have squat racks. Heard of another today that doesn't even have a chinup bar....

Cheers for the replys and advice, got the quote through e-mail contact so i will try to haggel as the price could be better, Not sure about the whole year yet might just do the 6/3 month contract as depending on college placement.

Cool never thought about the squat racks etc.

I deffo wont be goin for it on the day as i know wont visit will be enough to judge it to be honest.

Thanks for all the tips etc.

Absolutely do not bring any form of payment with you. That's a really good suggestion. If the place is legit and straight up they won't mind!
