No problems in Cork. Does this happen all day? Or is it just at specific times? Do you get the same problems if you plug directly into the cable modem?

I'd been having major problems with NTL. Packet loss was up at 75% most of the time. I gave them a ring, they claimed, after a check, that there was nothing wrong, but the problem "magically" sorted itself out.

Give them a ring and see if this magic helps you too :P

Probable is as you know their tech support or any kind of communication is unreal with that company. Last time I called they told me that I do not have service or account with them…this is while I am paying every month and have service :)
Usually happens in afternoons that internet get’s really bad…but happens during a day to get bad ping and lost pockets….

Not sure if it is directly related to this but I was having upload problems on a 10Mb UPC connection the past few months, usually between 7 - 9 pm until after midnight most nights.

    When running speedtest.net or upc.nl/speedtest
the download would be normal, the ping varied a bit but the upload test failed or barely registered. It might be worth running the next time the problem arises.

Yea I am having same problems in evenings…it is sad that there is no decent Internet provider in Ireland….
After calling number of times and getting them to “fix” my problem still have lost pockets in evening and ridicules ping in evenings….
