I plan to take a train from paris to La Rochelle and will be returning a few days later from La Rocelle airport. The train from Paris arrives about 9 pm and I've tried to book a car hire picking up at the train station and then returning to airport a few days later but all sites I've used say that the pick up is closed at that time. I guess I could get a taxi from the trains station to the airport and pick up there - any other ideas?

Are you leaving the city that night or are you staying over that night?

I.e , collect it the next morning.

I cannot think of anything other than heading to the airport.

I know for example, AVIS Preffered Members are able to return vehicles outside of office hours. The regional manager usually turns up for this but they do NOT offer out of hours collection.

Thanks Berty - I will be driving away that evening down south to my own place so wouldn't make any sense to stay overnight. I'll try the airport option - though they have narrow pick up windows too but I think there is a flight in around that time.

Avis at the airport is open until 10:15pm. It is closed between 8pm and 10pm but only opened for 15 minutes from 10pm.

As long as you have a booking they will not close up early, like the O'Irish would.

    Hi trishasaffron

I might be doing something similar but driving to a campsite just south of La Rochelle. Do you have any info on the train from Paris to La Rochelle?
Is it hard to get from the airport (CDG) to the train station?

You can PM me as this is just off topic.

This is the site I looked on - i'm coming from Montparnasse in central Paris so I haven't checked trains from CDG but I do know the station is within the airport complex - a bit of a walk but not too bad. good luck
