Maritime Darts Festival in Bantry

    The Maritime Hotel in Bantry, West Cork, is hosting the 2009 Maritime Darts Festival on the weekend of June 27th./ 28th., with a prize fund of €4,000 on offer.
    The Festival will commence on Saturday with an "Open Draw" Doubles competition at 8.00pm and will continue on Sunday with separate Singles competitions for Men, Ladies and Youths.
    The winner of the Men's Singles will pocket €1,000.

    Should be a great event.
    The set-up in the Maritime is top-class and there will be sixteen boards in play on the day.

    The Maritime Festival has received a double boost with the announcement that both Unicorn and the Gleneagle Hotel will be backing the Bantry event.
    Unicorn are supplying the top of the range Eclipse Pro dartboards for the Festival while the Gleneagle Hotel are inviting the winners of the Men's, Ladies' and Youths' Singles to compete in the John McEvoy Classic events at the 2009 Killarney Darts Festival on Sunday, October 18th.
    The winner of the Men's Singles in Bantry will compete against the top PDC players in the John McEvoy Gold Dart Classic while the Ladies' and Youths' winners will be invited to contest the Silver Dart and Bronze Dart events, respectively.

    The legendary John Joe O'Shea is practising hard for this event in his home town.
    He made a comeback to Inter-Counties darts in April when he played on one of the Cork teams in the Inter-Counties Challenge in Tramore.

    It's looking good for the Maritime Festival in Bantry this coming weekend with 80 players entered at this stage for the Men's Singles on Sunday.

    Entries for the Open Draw Doubles on Saturday night and the Ladies' and Youths' Singles on Sunday will be accepted at the venue.

    Just back from Bantry - super weekend of darts !

    Men's Singles was won by William O'Connor from Limerick - AWESOME ! ! !
    He defeated John O'Shea {Cork} 5-0 in the final.
    William also won the prize for the Highest Check-out - 160 - and he did it twice throughout the afternoon.

    Kay O'Carroll defeated her Cork team-mate Ashling Feiriteur in the Ladies' Final and David Coyne {Kilkenny} defeated Ryan Courtney {Cork} in the Youths' Final.
