Getting involved in masters shot putt??

    Hi All

    Am looking for some info on the following-

    Am moving to lucan shortly(touch wood) and am hitting the "magical" age of 40 in oct.

    I used to play rugby(prop) and am very interested in taking up shot putt for a sporting past time. Im planning a home gym and I take my sporting interest seriously.

    Theres a athletics club in lucan and I also gather there is over 40 "competitions" for masters that one can compete in.

    can anyone give me some info on how to "sign up" for these masters competitions, do you need to have competed before, whats lucan harriers like , does it have a throwing circle etc , when is the athletics season etc

    All you have to do is join a club and you can compete in masters competitions.The outdoor season is kicking off now.Try the Dublin athletics website and athletics ireland site for dates of competitions.As for what club im not from Dublin so wouldnt know.

    Not sure about throws at Lucan, but give them a call. If you're stuck then pop over to Crusaders at Irishtown (shameless plug) where we have all the equipment and coaching available.
