Looked down a couple of pages and couldn't see a thread like this, which is a bit surprising. Anyway, I'll start. In no particular order.

Gran Tarino (Moving, if a little cheesy)
La Haine (Great story of 3 distinct ethnic boys running around a French ****hole)
Forrest Gump (You have to be dead inside not to love Forrest Gump)
    Dead Man's Shoes (The ending...)
My Cousin Vinny (Needed something lighter in here. Very funny courtroom film with an Italian American New Yorker trying to save his cousin and his Jewish friend in an Alabama murder case)

I'm not a mod of the film forum so I can't tell you the official reason, but as far as I know it's because for a while the forum was over-run with loads of list threads that didn't generate any interesting discussion of the films in question.

What a brilliant thought out comment. A credit to boards.ie.

As for the rule about not posting lists, I can see where its coming from but if there is just one of these stickied somewhere surely that would make everyone's lives easier? And no one bothers to read the charter by the way, its a bit silly altogether. Either sticky this thread or one closely related and leave it at that.

Kevin & Perry? Brilliant I love it!

    Bit of a mixed bag but heres some I recommend;

    Braveheart
    Gladiator
    The Lion King
    Moulin Rouge
    Terminator 2

I'm also quite fond of Anchorman & Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Particularly Sarah Marshall I was really impressed with it.

Charters are there for a reason - to read them!

Charters are a bit like the terms and conditions that come with a new product: You assume its stating the bleeding obvious so don't even think of reading it. I'm pretty sure 99% of boardsies don't read the charters.

I agree with Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

There's been many really good comedies the last few years.

Anchorman, Step Brothers, Role Models, I Love You Man, Knocked Up, Superbad....................

Superbad yes! Can't believe I forgot that.

So many great lines in that movie.
Could have a thread all to itself.

With Sarah Marshall I thought they got so much right.
The comedy was spot on and well timed.
Then the reason for the relationship ending was well balanced.
    THEN the Dracula musical... brilliant.

Well that's just award-winning right there....not only ignoring the charter to begin with, but then moaning that it has these pesky rules that say you can't do things. When will we learn, eh?

(If you really feel that the absence of a "x number of films you must, for reasons unexplained, view before you snuff it" thread is damaging to the film forum, you could try starting a discussion about it with the mods. They're unlikely to react with much sympathy if you still refuse to read the charter at that point, though...)

Cop on, don't be such a self congratulatory...

Do you expect me to feel guilty for not reading the charter?

tbh, I think I will be doing something else with my time before I die, than watching films.

Yea and then you bitch and moan when you realise that you didn't read the contract and expect to get out of it by roaring and shouting.

    Idiotic argument.

Anything I say here will be considered inflammatory. Think I'll go to bed. Don't take the internetz so seriously. All this talk of obeying charters and 'idiotic arguments' is making me dizzy.
