Was Just wondering if it would be possible to make sandwiches at home and be able to bring them through the airport security checks? Any types allowed or disallowed? Have checked online but most relates to processed/pre packaged food.

    Thanks

I have never had trouble with sandwichs and don't know of anyone else that has ever had trouble with taking them on board.

    Sandwiches should be fine :)

Ryanair tried to charge people in Stanstead after sandwhich vendors opened up near their gates.

It was to discourage people brining food onto their flights thereby making it more difficult for Ryanair to upsell it high margins sanwhichs on board.

Just dont bring anything with Eggs in your sandwhich. It would be nauseating for other passengers on the flight.

BTW, if you have boiled sweets or sweets in general it IS polite to offer them to the strangers next to you.

God I hate people who dont offer me sweets whilst stuffing their faces with an 800g bag.

If you are ever sitting on a flight and some overweight guy is sitting next to you stuffing his face with an 800g bag of sweets with a look of "fvck off you these are my sweets, nobody offers me sweets so Im not offering you any" look then say:

Arent you that pr*ck off boards?

I think sandwiches are fine to bring on board but why don't you just ring the airport just to check?

I wouldn't offer a stranger sweets either actually. We're talking a bag of sweets right? That means they have to stick their hand into your bag of sweets and you have no idea where their hands have been. I don't want somebody else's hands all over my food, no thank you!

Buy wrapped sweets? Or pour them into their hand? Or pour them into their open mouth while they sleep?

Sandwiches are absolutely fine to bring through security. The only issue you would have is if you bring anything to wash them down with through :)

In general all food stuffs are ok to bring through security.

I always take food through with me as having special needs in the food dept there is never anything for me to eat in airports. Have taken sandwiches, rolls, fruit and snacks with no problem. Even took a tub of special marg with me once with no problems.

Lol I don't buy wrapped sweets and why should I buy wrapped sweets just in case the person next to me decides he/she wants my sweets when they didn't bother buying their own! Buy your own sweets! Anyway I've seen people being offered sweets and quite a few just stick their hand in and don't pour the sweets out, so no thank you!

Anyway I think all food is fine, so long as it's not liquid you're ok. Don't blame people for bringing sarnies on board, airplane food is so horrible. Just respect the others on the flight and don't bring some foul smelling sandwich filling.

You absolute peasant. I bet I have sat next to you stuffing your gob with jelly babies or similar nice tasting sweets and not bothered offering me any.

Thank god I have a pork steak in the oven otherwise I would be very annoyed. :D

Dear Mods, It could be possible this thread has run its course.

Going through security at Dublin Airport a few weeks ago I had my bag taken aside and searched. I asked the guy what was wrong and he said that I had liquids in the bag which I hadn't.

Turned out that my banana sandwiches registered on the scanner as liquid. Crazy stuff but at least he didn't take them off me!
