HELP - Underarm burned after using Veet Sensitive

So as the title says I got fed up of using razors but as I have sensitive skin I went for the Veet Sensitive Skin range. Carried out a test patch before using it, but I now have burns under my arm that are so so sore, they blistered first but after putting Sudocream on them (only thing I had) this morning they are red burns. I didn't even leave it on for the 5mins, the minute i felt it stinging I washed it off.

Sudocream has given me some relief but I now look like i'm auditioning for a part in 'Im a little teapot' having to hold my arm out to stop the pain, can't hold my arm down by my side. Anyone any suggestions on what is best to use to help with the healing, thanks?

    Ouch!
You poor thing... that sounds very nasty.
    :(

Sudocream is probably the best thing to be using - mum's use it for nappy rash etc so it's definitely used to treating sensitive skin.

You might try applying it with cotton wool, just so you're not agitating your underarm skin too much?

Aloe vera might also cool your skin, but it could burn, if the skin is very inflamed...

I'd suggest going to a chemist and asking for advice. Stick to unscented moisturiser stuff, I'd say! - with as few ingredients as possible, so it's more natural.

There's also this cream you can get in chemists, in a big white tub - emollient cream? That would certainly help to ease the pain as well!

Hi pikachuckeeks, thanks for the quick reply, I have that cream would you believe it thanks a million will give it a go and the tip about the cotton wool is a good one too as even putting on the sudocream I feel it dragging the skin and making it all worse, thanks again, much appreciated.

    Hi Linda,

I'm the same as you with sensitive skin and I would not put Veet near me I tried the sensitive one on my legs before and I ended up with the same kind of burns. I can only imagine how much pain you must be in with your sensitive underarms. Just a suggestion maybe Salvon cream might help.

It's good for burns and scalds and basically what you have now is a sort of chemical burn. Salvon encourages skin healing too so it could offer some relief. I hope that helps! :)

all those creams can be drying and actually worsen the irritation. Try something neutral like aloe vera

Acriflex is a good cream for burns that I think is sold in Ireland too. It might be spelt Acryflex, but it heals up the blistering and the weeping pretty fast and takes the heat/pain out.

    Sounds awful sore OP.:(

    Ouch.
Actually something like this happened me, with the in-shower cream. It stung soooo bad for days and my pores were basically bleeding :(

However, I realised a bit too late, that I had shaved the day before, and it said not to use til after 72 hours of shaving...

    OP,

If I were you, I'd actually consider writing to the company about the issue.

Reactions like that are not supposed to happen with the product!

Your condition sounds nasty, so you might think about complaining!

Just checked this out with a few who uses VEET. They are happy with this product & have no reactiuons. WAXING WOULD BE AN ATERNATIVE. It is quick fast and feel good afterwards.

That happened to me when I was about 14 and didn't want to use a razor to get rid of underarm air so used immac instead. Couldn't use deodorant for about a week and a half afterwards, was horrible! Can't remember what I did to sooth it though.

Gosh, thanks so much for all the replies, will get some aloe vera tomorrow sounds like the most common recommendation. Things have improved but don't know how long it will be before I'l be able to use deoderant even showering is agony, I only thank god I did a patch test or I'd hate to think what agony i'd have been in otherwise, thanks again.

They is a deodrant in the health shops you can get if you are worried about not wearing any, its called Ice,or something like that, i cant find it atm, its a blue bottle and has picture of ice gems all over the front of it , i've seen it in most health shops so itd pretty common

i use this as i have psoriasis on my underarms and cant use normal deodrant most of the time.

you can use that , it doesnt burn or sting or anything, but will help ya smell nice:P its like €9 euro a bottle tho , but worth it

Me again, so got the Aloe Vera cooling gel and lotion (recommended by pharmacist today too), used the gel and it stung like hell:eek:, should that happen as in no pain no gain or should I stop using it, can it cause a further reaction?

I am actually sorer today and the burns I have are frightening considering I'd only used a bit, the red sores have spread out so I think i'l try get an appointment with the Doctor which may take a few days so wondering if I should continue using the Aloe Vera or halt it all until I see the Doc? thanks.

Shlt. If it's that bad pet, maybe head over to A&E with it?! It is a chemical burn after all...

I'd say try and get an emergency appointment with the doctor though if you can. A walk-in clinic tomorrow even.
