Whats the best way to quieten an aeg.Silencers don't seem to make much difference. I've heard of domed headed pistons and pistons with ports in them but which is the most effective?

you can get a piston head with a rubber buffer on it and that will take a lot of the snap out of the shot. a decent silencer will also go some way to dumb down the noise but most of the noise comes from te gearbox. depending on the gun you could pad out the cavities inside with dynamat, its a sound deadening material used in car audio setups.,

Does the rubber tip actualy last or does it break up after constant usage?

I have an element silent piston kit, seems ok, but the whine of the motor is all the more noticeable because of it.

finally got around to fitting a systema silent piston. (big dissapointment) not much difference in noise reduction! and a whopping loss of approx 50fps... i stripped it down again and measured the brass nozzles. the systema one is 3/4 the lenght and .1mm smaller in diameter. this is where the pressure loss is occuring its a loser fit with the outer plastic nozzle. you may be able to get one to suit but i dont think the noise reduction is worth the effort of stripping it again:(

Get some PTFE tape and wrap it around before fitting, should take care of that gap.

The silent piston kits are all snake oil and diet water, complete toss.

yeah i heard about the tape mod to increase fps but i cant see thread tape lasting at that rof and it would probably wreck my head on the field:o think ill settle for the standard one thanks anyway lads:D

Sorry, I was thinking you meant between the cylinder head and cylinder, didn't realise it was the cylinder and air nozzle you were referring to.

A systema air nozzle would probably fit better with the Systema cylinder. Alternatively some air nozzles have an o-ring inside to improve their seal (the Systema would probably does too)
