    GDP flash estimates were released for some of the EuroArea today. I included Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for the Baltic perspective.

    Country|2008: Q2|2008: Q3|2008: Q4|2009: Q1
    ||||
    Percentage Change from previous quarter||||
    Belgium|0.3|0.0|-1.7|-1.6
    Estonia|-1.7|-2.2|-4.3|-6.5
    France|-0.4|-0.2|-1.5|-1.2
    Germany|-0.5|-0.5|-2.2|-3.8
    Greece|0.9|0.4|0.3|:
    Ireland|-0.4|1.1|-7.1|:
    Italy|-0.6|-0.8|-2.1|-2.4
    Latvia|-1.4|-0.4|-3.9|-11.2
    Lithuania|0.2|-0.3|-1.4|-9.5
    Spain|0.1|-0.3|-1.0|-1.8
    ||||
    Change from same Quarter previous year
    Belgium|1.9|1.1|-1.0|-3.0
    Estonia|-1.1|-3.5|-9.7|-15.6
    France|1.0|0.1|-1.7|-3.2
    Germany|2.0|0.8|-1.8|-6.9
    Greece|3.4|2.7|2.4|:
    Ireland|-0.6|0.3|-7.4|:
    Italy|-0.3|-1.3|-3.0|-5.9
    Latvia|-2.9|-5.6|-10.4|-18.6
    Lithuania|4.6|2.0|-1.3|-10.9
    Spain|1.8|0.9|-0.7|-2.9

    The IMF have forecast a -4.0% growth in GDP for the EuroArea over 2009, Q-on-Q it was -2.5. -3.8% Q-on-Q is quite surprising for Germany, and that's not an annualised rate.

    For the lazy

    A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

    When will Ireland's Q1 2009 figure be released, in or around the -11% figure about right?

    Some time in June. The last Q-o-Q figure was for 2008: Q4 and that was -7.1%.
