Cuba - When to go?

    Hi all,

My gf and I are thinking of going to Cuba this summer and the time that suits best for us is end of August/ start of Sept. The only issue is that I've read this is in the middle of Hurricane season. Has anyone got experience of going there during this time and is Cuba at this time a) v. hot/ sticky plus with the occasional life-threatening hurricane to deal with or b) a bit over exaggerated and not too dangerous/ uncomfortable after all?

All replies welcome including feedback on Cuba and how you found it to travel around.
    Cheers

I would either go around may/ june/ july or around november otherwise you are really at the height of hurrianc season...and they got hit hard last year. Chances of you dying or anything are non existent like all the hotels are well built for hurricanes and they have a very good system set up for dealing with them only it wouldnt be much of a holiday if one happened when you were there...

Im heading to Cuba for two weeks in July, plenty of good stuff in the guide books. Depends really on what you want from the holiday, whether culture, history, diving, hiking or beach!!!

couple of my friends went around that time last year and their holiday was redirected to Barbadoes....needless to say they were well disappointed!
