Fitness watch to calculate BRM

I've got an Aldi fitness watch which is only so-so at working out my heart rate when I'm sweating and puffing, but I was wondering if I could use it to work out my BRM.

You input your weight, gender and age, and it calculates the calories you burn while your heart is working at different speeds.

For the last couple of days, I've been putting it on in the morning and letting the exercise function run all day. I re-enter my heart rate every ten minutes or so, or every time I change exercise.

On a quiet day, it said I burned 1300 cals. On an active on, 3400. Does this sound right?
