    Hi

Anyone ever had trouble with this? I have been going to a physio now for awhile and he diagnosed my lower back complaint as a sciatic nerve problem from the 2nd lumbar in the spine. it caused me to tear my hamstring a few weeks ago due to poor flexibility. he has me on a stretching program but the improvements arent great.

It only affects me when im trying to stretch my left hamstring and after i have been sitting/lying in the one place for awhile. my flexibility is extremely poor as a result because i get a shooting pain when i try and stretch my left hamstring.it doesnt really bother me doing anything else so i have still been lifting in the gym and playing football but im fairly worried about tearing my hamstring again and would like to get the problem fixed so i can start improving my flexibility again.

Incidentally, when i do get it fixed i was thinking about taking up yoga to help. anyone go any preferences for any types of classes. i would ideally like a class that would improve my core strength and flexibility.

    cheers

Iengar Yoga, there is a sort of remedial approach to it. They use props to help you. Great for recovering from injuries.

Also, try to find a good osteopath. They are more back orientated than a physio. A good one will use massage and manipulation, as well as giving you exercises to help improve strength and flexibility in the right areas.
At least ring one and see what he thinks.

Had this problem in all my pregnancies and on and off since. It's the sort of thing that chiropractors are brilliant at fixing. I'd find a good chiropractor, then focus on flexibility exercises to stop it happening again.

I go to a chiropractor regularly mainly cos I have had back problems since my teens.

However, I wouldnt actually recommend Chairo over Osteopaths.
There are a LOT more quacks in Chairo, and even away from quackery, there are few REALLY good Chairopractors.

    I have had 2.
The guy Im with now is good enough, but I would advise people to go to an osteopath. They use a much more inclusive approach. Most of the techniques that Chairopractic encorporates and more besides.

I have the same thing. Thankfully I haven't torn anything, but if I don't keep up with my physio at home I'll pull my neck muscle doing nothing and won't be able to move it for a week.

Have you been given the all clear to try yoga?
It took me about 2 months with the physio to see some difference.
I've done Iyengar yoga & I found that really great with the flexibility issues. As a previous poster said, they use props like cushions & blocks to help you.
