Whats your view on all early championship games going straight into extra time of 10mins a half then 5mins a half before fixing a replay.
I am trying to decide if this is a good or bad thing. There have been some great sagas in the past that needed a third game.

I don't think they could do it for one round of games and not do it for others. It may be something they have to look at though due to the current economic climate and the expense involved for families travelling to matches. Is it fair to ask them to fork out for a replay too?

it seems a stupid decision from the GAA if u ask me. look at all the money they could be missing out on, plus with money they will lose now lansdown is well on its way. poor decision from a business point of view. for example the dublin v meath game. sell out crowd, no replay if needed?? stupid.

They are absolutely right. A replay means new tickets and how many will turn up again - unless its a plum tie. Can you imagine how many would have turned up again to watch Louth v. Carlow or Down v. Fermanagh if there was a replay on a Saturday evening somewhere? Play the match and get the result sorted out as early as possible. Leaves teams able to sort out their itineries for the forthcoming match's

This is nothing to with money or the economy lads (for once). I expect it's to help with fixture congestion and free up more time for club games. It makes sense to go straight to extra time anyway.

I think it's a good thing as it saves people having to fork out again for a replay. It's probably better to get the tie finished as the mid to end of the summer could potentially get congested with fixtures then.

anyone know what the situation is with the bookies and these games? If a draw comes in at full time, is that what paddpower et. al are looking at or is it the end result after extra time? If so, those drawn odds at the moment that so many people think are good value aren't actually great value at all.

Edit: Never mind, seems paddpower at least stipulates 70 minutes on their site for all results.
