Troubles with Chinese visa

I'm back there again next month and again they are only giving me a three month one.
This time its a single entry only one which is even worse, i had planned on visiting Hong Kong as like last time which means leaving the mainland so i need a two entry visa..but they will only give me a single one.
What really frustrates me is that i have friends in England, America and Switzerland that I'll be meeting up with over there and they are all granted one year multiple visit visa's with no problems at all!!!
    Whats going on!!??

Anyhow, we are going to Hong Kong so I guess I'll have to try and get my visa renewed when there.
I'm going to see will they give me a multiple visit one there, has anyone ever had to get a Chinese visa rushed through in HK, if so how long did it take?, and where did you get it!!?

I have no idea why they wouldn't issue multi-entry visas, but I do not think that tourist visas last for as long as 1 year. If it is a student visa then they have age limits (maybe doesn't apply to you).

Renewing in HK is handy. I got mine renewed in about 4 hours in a random travel agent in the center of HK. I think I paid about double what it would have been through the embassy, but I was happy to pay for the convenience.

They stopped issuing visas for the mainland in HK last summer just before the olympics, i dont know if they have resumed it.

Thanks Captain Corelli, sounds like exactly what i'll do.
Really-Stressed, i think that was just because of the Olympics, I checked some official websites and there is plenrty of info on visas there and where to go, so i assume they have resumed issuing them.
