    Hi,
I would appreciate feedback on what is needed to finish out this site. Its almost ready to launch but can ye let me know what's it short for it to launch.

    www.splityourbasket.ie

What do ye think of the name?
    The layout?
functionality? (ye probably would have to create an account to test this)

Its a free product listing site for real world retailers.
There are only dummy entries there at the moment.

The main middle message is there to fill space I need to work on this message.

The right hand col are dummy box ads.

    thanks.

    Interesting.

    I think it needs a Toys/Kids/Entertainment section :-)

What's a "Real World" retailer? What are out of this world retailers?

What is the main idea? Is it just a directory that allows you to also list your products?

Adding a product image might be nice.

It would be good if you could specify separately, the title, description, image and price for each product.

As it is now, it looks like it's just for posting offers etc.

    I will add the category

Its about choice, convenience and cost. People pass their nearest shop (large or small) to buy something elsewhere and may never know of offers or products there.

real world = offline retailers (probably be flexible here)

Adding a product image might be nice .. will work on it

It would be good if you could specify separately, the title, description, image and price for each product.

i want to be flexible here as you see in the examples: 2 for 1, 50% of, announcements

As it is now, it looks like it's just for posting offers etc.

This is how its going to start really. By category and location

Nice Idea i guess, but how is it going to make you money?
Advertising will prob only pay for the cost of re-regging your domain for a year.

Well im just going to give it a lash. It has been a great learning experience so far.

I do appreciate this feedback as you can see its a bit away from being finished getting this feedback at this stage will allow me present a better product to retailers.

Hi Betonit - just had a look at the site and the first thing that struck me was that the name can be hard to read - split your or splity our? May be worth considering different colour or weight for 'your'. I look forward to seeing what the site can offer as its a bit difficult to follow the concept from the dummy records.

Re you difficulty with coming up with clear piece for the retailers - why not post a piece of it and get people to comment?

Sorry for confusion - referring to

"Im looking to post a letter to a no. of retailers letting them know of a free online service they could you to list products in their business. I have a problem wording this letter"

    from other thread.

    hey betonit,

I had a look at your website, and its nice simple and clean, I presume your trying to keep costs as low as possible and in that regard, the website is fine, although product pictures is a "must have" feature. Other than that though it looks ok.

However I have never heard of the term "split your basket" before this thread, and still don't really understand what it means or why you would choose to call your site by this name. You say the idea was based on "Bargain Alerts", I think you should rename the website along those lines. In that way everyone who sees the website name will know exactly what it is about immediately.

The idea is not from "bargain alerts" anther poster suggested that :). The idea is more or less the same. Ive heard the phrase "split your basket" several times its in relation to buy your veg in shop A buy your meat in shop B. The aim of this site is before you go shopping to check out whats offers or choice is available in your area as in you may pass out a shop you never go into and never know the offers. Then expand the concept to other categories

I have had some feedback on photos, Ill have to consider this. The clean simple design is due to cost but also for simple ease of use for shop owners and speed of search for visitors . No logins, points, votes, ratings. Just good fast info (hopefully) . I can develop if from there.

    Thanks again

I accept that this is a phrase but I'm saying that I really do not think it is well known. I just googled it there and got no returns relating to the way you describe it.

Just checked there and the domain name bargainalert.ie is currently available

In repsonse to your original post with regards to having trouble wording the letter. What are you goin to do after you've sent the letter? And what are you going to do after that. You need to Get a sales process in place a full plan from A-Z of how your sales process will take shape.

If your serious about this venture you will need a Customer Management System. One of the most important functions off selling is tracking information. Conversion rates and targets are paramount. If your speciality is the I.T side of things it may pay to consult somebody or outsource the sales process altogether. In the current sales process im using there is four simple steps which dramatically improve your chance's of closing the sale. Since january its generated the guts of 140k with the company im currently carrying out sales for. If your interest I have databases of Retailers Munsterwide ready to go. And rest of Ireland in the making. PM me for More Info.

What I need now is exactly what you say.. a plan. I've recieved alot of great feedback form here and elsewhere and now basically now I have more questions to answer. I need to put all the points together and go with it.

The marketing plan is after i send the letter i need to gauage reaction (1 week). I will follow up with a call, then maybe seek external help. Try and get some content up there and then launch it.

Ive had feedback over the name (good and bad), i want to stick by my "name" but also have to consider the feedback.

    Thanks Gilly
