    Hi not from westmeath but was told there is preserved steam engines etc in mullingar railway station Has anyone any info?

    I think the railway preservation society of Ireland have a base in Mulingar. Don't think it's open to the public though!

    The only working railway museum in Ireland is the Downpatrick & Co. Down Railway which operates steam trains from that town to Inch Abbey. A stated above, the RPSI operates steam excursions on the Irish Rail & Northern Ireland Railways main line systems. Mullingar has no steam locos, but some vintage carriage repair work has been done there, though this is about to move to Dublin.
