I won't go into a big list of bands i like, i like a wide variety of music,

While waiting on news of the 2nd album from a band called Morning Runner, i find out that they are not going to return with any more music.

So one of the main reasons i loved this band was that piano formed a major part of the bands music,

Here are 2 songs from Morning Runner

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V703dcrUcuI

So can anyone point me in the direction of any similar type music, old or new,

    Cheers

I can't think of any piano indie off the top of my head although I know I listen to quite a lot of it, just wanted to say that Oceans has been one of my favourite songs of the last couple months. Absolute quality song.

I'll post back when I'm not having a brain fart.

Cheers thanks for the reply, look forward to that brain fat passing :)

Oceans would be my favourite on the album, it is a quality song as you say.

well the obvious piano based indie suggestion is ben folds gone off the boil slightly with recent albums but his ben folds five albums and his first solo album "Rocking the Suburbs" were fantastic

You looking for non piano suggestions as well?

I'll check out that first solo album, i've heard of him, but never actually listened to anything.

My idea was to try and replace Morning Runner,

    But i won't ignore any suggestions :)

Is there a piano in anoy of those songs? Granted i don't know the white lies song i can't imagine they are anything close to what the OP is looking for.

And while Plush and Deceptacon are great track's, i can't imagine why you would pick them? Did you even listen to the tracks in the original post?

Not a big fan of Morning runner, but if you're looking for something along their lines, you could do worse than Elbow, Guillemots, keane and the feeling, and i feel particularly ill recommending bands such as Keeane and the feeling to anyone

Check out Elbow, and Zero 7 (both already mentioned) and maybe Eels? Everyone should listen to a bit of Eels...Anthony and the Johnsons is lovely...Duke Special has some nice stuff, Lambchop too.

Joe Jackson - Night and Day
Weather Report - Mysterious Traveller. Fusion but try it. Keyboardist - Joe Zawinul is amazing.

    I'd recommend...

    - Muse have a bit a piano mixed in to some of their stuff - quality
    - Ben Folds Five mentioned already but check out Whatever and Ever Amen or The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner. Never got into his solo stuff myself tbh.
    - The Dresden Dolls
    - and then there's the Keanes / Coldplays and that

My mind's gone completely blank, can't think of any others...

If you just want pure piano you should check out True Love Waits by Christopher O'Riley (link) - a classical pianist playing all Radiohead songs - really, really like it.
