Good evening.
I've just about finished building my new mountain bike and was wondering, where do all the mtb'ers ply their trade these days? Its been quite a while since I've been off the mountains and would like to break myself in gently. Thinking of heading up three rock this sat just for old times sake but where else is good? Not just in Dublin either, I get over to Mayo quite a bit too but never been on any trails there.

There are the manmade, all-weather, trails in Balinastoe, Ballyhoura and Portumna, http://www.coillteoutdoors.ie/?id=52&trail_type=2&x=39&y=8

There are also unofficial trails up in 3Rock, Kindlestown, Djouce, Leadmines, but you're best off joining up with a club to get shown around these ones.

MAD and EPIC do beginner spins, MAD is of course a superior club. Spin on Saturday morning at 9 from Ticknock upper carpark with MAD. http://www.madmtb.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2196
