Just back from seven days sunshine in Palma Nova,Majorca
Found a great kid friendly apartments on the beach.Diden't even bother hiring a car, just chilled with the kids on the beach for the week.
Prices dirt cheap for food and drink.Hard to spend €35 on a meal for four.
Apartments are called Roc hotel/apartments.They have a website and will deal on price.
Anyone else been to Majorca?what did you think of it/

Just back from Palma nova myself and like yourself I thought food and drink was cheap.
We stayed in VIVA Hotel (Top Class 4 star hotel)

Wish i was back there right now. This weather is hard to take.
Did you book the Viva hotel direct or as part of a package?
Might give them a try later in the year.

I like Mallorca, too. Great for families. I've stayed in Palma Nova, but the last two times we've been to Mallorca we stayed in Alcudia, which we prefer.

Been to Alcudia myself with the family & the place is lovely. We booked Tenerife for end of June this year. There is loads of stuff to do for the kids & we spend most of our time in Siam Park the new waterpark they built.

I normally book the flights & apartments separate as you will save a bomb & car hire was €76 for a Citroen C3 for the week with auto reisen.

Check out bargain alerts as there is a £10 off per night discount code for Hotels.com. We got the apartment for €200 for the week with this code

Hi Meboloxitis. I'm interested in going to Alcudia myself and the family. What apartments did you stay in and can you recommend it?

Also, what do you mean when you say you booked the flights and apartments separately?

I would highly recommend the Hotel Ivory Playa. Just back from there two weeks ago. Booked and paid for on their website there. €35 per night, for a studio room (which was great - TV / microwave / toaster / hob / fridge / freezer / pots / pans / all the cups, plates and utensils you need). Hotel is superb. I think it's 4 star. Feels like 4 star anyway. Great for families.

We flew Ryanair and booked separately, on the Ryanair website.

    hi all,
i've booked ryanair flights 22july- 3 aug (12 nights)i'm having trouble deciding where to stay. my wife, two 15 yr old boys and two 14 yr old girls
lads into sport, swimming and girls into sun, shopping, and me happy to read a book but also go windsurfing. looking at 3 bed apt or villa with pool, though they seem to coming in at €2000-€3000 for 12 days. any recommendation on resort or accomodation appreciated. looking at puerto pollensa, heard its charming but would it be too quiet?

That would be a nail-on-description of Pollensa, imo. Charming and worth a visit it definitely is, but not really for 4 kids into sports, sun & swim.

From my limited experience of Mallorca, I'd say either Alcudia or Palma would be better for you.

Booked direct with the Hotel. It's a top class place alright and very well ran. We flew Aer Lingus and got a private shuttle bus from airprt to hotel and vice versa. We were there 4 years ago and there are lots of new additions / improvements to the hotel for kids.

Alcudia is a good enough spot for a nice beach, not too busy, some half decent cheap restaurants.

Stayed in the Viva Sunrise which is very good.

Plenty of activities for kids but fine for adults too.

If anyone does go to Alcudia, I can't recommend this little restaurant highly enough. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it though. It's on a corner. I've found it on Google Maps anyway, "A" marks the spot!

It has a Thomson holiday recommendation award, iirc, but we found that mainly locals ate there (always a good sign). In fact, to be honest, our recent trip to Alcudia was for 4 nights, and we ate there 3 out of the 4!

My mouth waters, thinking of their grilled sea bass "on the back", with char grilled vegetables, roasted garlic.. Mmmm!
