More loyal, girls or guys?

I'm not gonna go out and give one definitive answer. I'm just gonna post my two cents and each sex can argue their side.

It's my contention that guys are more loyal creatures than girls. It comes down to what is bred into us. I'll take football teams for example. When you pick your team, it's your team for life. Every footie fan knows this and would rather stop watching football all together than to start supporting another team.

The same happens throughout everyday life. Whatever school / college you went to, you felt that surge of pride when they'd win in sport. You'd defend your college in the UCD / TCD wars. You'd still cheer your school rugby team despite crushing defeat after crushing defeat.

Sure even two of my mates had an argument last week of Budweiser Vs Heineken. And through one of the stupidest of rants you could ever hear, the one resounding opinion from each of them was 'well I've been a Bud / Hino man my whole life, I aint gonna change now'.

I think guys are the same in relationships. When you have a long term girlfriend, she is your property. As you are hers. You are loyal to her as you've made a committment to her and you like to see it out. Like you would a football team / a rugby team etc.

I am not under any circumstance saying that ALL guys will be loyal. I am just saying we are more used to staying loyal than girls are.

I just think we get a bad rep because guys are less subtle at cheating. The few bad apples that do the dirt on a long term girlfriend are given a much worse rep than girls that cheat on a long term boyfriend because it comes to the forefront in more cases. If a guy cheats, all the girls mates line up against him and the guy is the scum of the earth. If a girl cheats, she keeps it a lot more quiet because the guy is less likely to cause an outlandish scene and brandish her as the 'traitor'.

    Opinions?

I find the species known as After Hoursers (or AHers) to be the most loyal. We may flirt with other forums but can never betray this place

People are people... Loyalty doesn't come down to your sex.

I know lads that have changed football teams. I work with a load of blokes (its not the YMCA) and i have seen lots of them cheat on girlfriends and partners, and are subtle enough not to get caught...but i wouldn't use that as something to generalise against a sex.

Dogs are loyal. More so than cats.

Or laziness. They're probably Heino or Budweiser or Man U men because they couldn't be bothered their arses to change or try something new. :D

Women are very loyal towards their friends, too, well, their Bestest Best Friends. Obviously the OP has never hear of 'Girl Rules', like you don't go near a man your best friend may even have the slightest interest in...

But in all seriousness, some people are loyal, some are not. It doesn't come down to sex, imo.

And dogs may be more loyal than cats, but cats are cooler so :p

    :pac:

I agree with this. Also I knew this debate would boil down to dogs and cats.

Women are not less loyal they are merely more pragmatic. In fact I also believe that in real terms that they are more loyal than men. Supporting your college rugby team or somebody you drink with down the pub with is not an indicator of loyalty as these things don't really matter in real terms.

Personally, as an example, say I was to be convicted of a crime tomorrow or do/become something that is socially unacceptable I know my sister would be 'more loyal' to me and my condition than my brother (and that's taking in mind that I'm not particularily close with either of them and don't play favourites either).

IMO depends totally on the person not the sex of the person.
I have seen it on both sides women who cheat their boyfriend husbands and mates.Men who do the same.

I've been cheated on/lied to by more girls than men. I'm not gay or anything, but the ratio is somethig like 3:0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭Steoob

Women are cheating bitches and when they're drunk they turn into spastics who don't care who they hurt.

That's like playing only half a cricket match. I think you should get out there and ride the equal amount of sausage and see how much that score changes by.

I'm not calling you gay or anything, just that you should do it to satisfy your own statistical curiosity

Solution: Stop dating women and date dogs instead.

I really think it boils down to the type of person the individual is. I dont think you can generalise it as men are more loyal then women. Or vice versa

You could take 5 men and 5 women and the women may turn out to be the most loyal in that group.

Then you could take a totally different bunch of people and the men may end up the most loyal. When I mean different I mean personality wise.

Just depends on the kind pf person you are i think

**I also think dogs are more loyal. Cats are cold creatures**

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,391 ✭✭✭Captain-America

In my experience I've found guys to be more loyal. But then, I really think it's just the people I hang around with.

That's not really true for me. I'm a fan of football before any team.

    .
Whatever school / college you went to, you felt that surge of pride when they'd win in sport. You'd defend your college in the UCD / TCD wars. You'd still cheer your school rugby team despite crushing defeat after crushing defeat.

I didn't care about my school's sports team, and fully disliked a lot of them. I go to UCD and am fairly sure TCD is a better college.

I think guys are the same in relationships. When you have a long term girlfriend, she is your property. As you are hers. You are loyal to her as you've made a committment to her and you like to see it out. Like you would a football team / a rugby team etc.

This argument is a logical fallacy.

Some guys are loyal, some woman are loyal. Depends on the person.

Men are more loyal than women, coming from a lady point of view...

Women will b*tch, moan, talk about people behind their back.
However when men have a problem, they go to that person, talk it over, and in the end up they are either friends with that person or not..

I'm afraid the majority of ladies have no grasped this..

Around a year or so ago I was cheated on by a right bitch. I came home from work early to find her, in the kitchen, with my best mate. He came out with some hurried explanation, most of which I didn't even catch. But the worst part was her reaction. She just stood there, naked, looking at me, trying to catch her breath, saying not a word.

So I really don't know where all this "dogs are more loyal" crap is coming from.
