    Hi All,

Can anyone provide a definitive list or even some good tips of how to get the most out of google adwords?

I'm not too keen on webinars etc! :)

    Thanks

I did a great course with Kildare County Enterprise Board on "marketing on the internet" which covered adwords etc. It was the best €100 I have spent so far in my business from the point of view of ROI. Look to your enterprise board and see if the are running any similar courses or if not look at other board sand if they are running courses get you board to get you on one.

By the way the company that ran the course were called ringjohn

Lol thats a big question, simple answer is to learn all about how the system works. If you have no idea, take a course or hire in a consultant to teach you (not to implement the system).

You need to understand the phrases such as:

    CPC - Cost per click
    CPA - Cost per acquisition
    CPM - Cost per impression
    Geotargeting - location specific ads
    Etc.

One thing i would be careful about is hiring an external company to operate the campaign - frankly i believe adwords requires continous tweaking. Also for some strange reason they all seem to charge about 10% of your total spend - which to me seem ludacris since that gives them no incentive to reduce your CPA.

Some tips: Geotarget to test campaigns, work out your net profit per average sale and hence how much you can afford to buy a customer at. Use negative keywords. Monitor regularily.

You need to also get your head around quality score.

And conversion tracking, landing page and ad variation split testing.

You need to know how to structure your campaign and adgroups. They need to be structured differently for the search and content networks.

Put frankly you're better off getting someone who knows what they're doing and that is willing to mentor you or who you are willing to pay to run things for you.
