    Hey everyone,

the thread on 'work clothes' got me thinking that I really gotta get work clothes for the summer.

i love dresses & skirts, the dress code is leniant enough as long as i dont come in in a mini skirt and hoody or something lol! will have to wear tights however even if it is knee length as i have a tatoo on my leg etc..

i was looking at this dress in next; its gorge, and knee length which would be suitable. but 40 euro - no thanks! for the simple reason ill need to be getting a lot of stuff etc .. maybe pennys my best bet, although theyve a lot of shorts, vest tops in at the mo and that kind of thing..

    heres the dress:

    its a beaut.

(its the 1st dress with the belt on it - the black linen one)

Love it. Id spend €40 on it for deffo. You could mix and match that dress with loads of things, coloured cardigans, flat shoes or heels, little neck scarf etc. Investment.;)

i suppose your right there. could get wear out of it twice a week with different cardigans and heels. . true true... oh you've kinda twisted my arm now..and could wear it out too, with nice stilettos. hhhhmmmmm...

40 yoyoys isn't actually that expensive - and I'd personally rather buy one or two decent items than a heap of stuff from Penneys.

I just cleaned out a tonne of stuff from my wardrobe and guess what, most of it was Penney's stuff from my poorer days. It just doesn't last. Having said that, it is where I'd go if I wanted a t-shirt or two.

Buy it now or regret it later... i completely agree with you penneys is a quick fix. it is of poor quality but its the best for a perk me up or casual tee!
    :)

Buy it girl!!! It's gorgeous. You'll get great great wear out of Next clothes and €49 is really reasonable.

Marks and sparks occasionally have linen work style dresses in.

On an aside - what's your office policy re colour i.e. is it neutral, black, grey etc.
I think this is cute, the only thing is the open back that lets it down but a cardigan could cover it

I have some sundresses, that I got a few years ago very simple style fitted top, loose skirt and spaghetti straps. Too casual by itself but a shirt underneath or a long sleeve top, waist belt and tights and they're ok if you have a casual enough office code.

yeh i suppose... moneys just so tight at mo, but its something ill get wear out off in winter too etc i suppose..

    thanks OP's!

Rach - i tried asos, but cant find anything really knee length !?! care to help me out?

i just love the style of it etc..

labradoodlelady- i love topshop stuff, but find their sizes SO small on me! im a 16 and i always find them to be really tight fitting etc. the code is casual enough - i mean, as long as theres nothing crazy its ok - i mean its teaching so.. im sure wearing a long sleeved top underneath would be ok.. .

Teaching - cool good on ya girl. Right, I presume its the standard no jeans, no runners, nothing too low cut, too tight or too revealing.

Seriously check out ebay. Put in things like pencil dress or shiftt dress and the size. I got a beautiful Betty Jackson dress for about €15 last year. It's the galaxy style that was discussed on the other thread!!

Topshop can be a pain in the arse for sizes. I think that dress would be lovely for your kind of figure. New Look often have sun dresses in if it's kind of summery clothes you're looking at.

You will get great wear out of the Next dress. Their clothes are v. good quality.

How about a skirt along this kind of style. I know it might be a bit old fashioned but with a plain vest or tee and a cardi it'd be sound for summer - well for work!
