Armed Garda cheekpoint on the strandhill road

    There was an armed Garda cheekpoint on the Strandhill road, half way between town and Strandhill at 10pm tonight. Anybody know what the scandal is?

    Armed checkpoints are often set up to look for/stop known thieves and people ijvolved in drugs whatever! I know in wexford they set a unit up for a while purely to conduct armed checkpoints to cut down on burglaries

    Usually only see them when there's been a murder or bank/post office robbery these days. I didn't hear anything about it. Strange. It's not a main road where you'd usually see armed checkpoints.
