i always wanted to be an astronaut.

now, at the ripe old age of 29, i have come to terms with the fact that it's unlikely to happen!

I guess I should add my two cents then...

Went through phases of wanting to be a singer (cant sing), guitar player (i can, but not well), priest (for a free mobile.. long story), fireman or doctor

Now I have no idea,, I think I know deep down I'll have to end up as a teacher like the rest of my family

Sorry to be serious in AH, but how would you go about getting into something like that? I imagine Politics and English Lit/Lang degrees are vital; I'm only in Y10 at the moment, would you have any tips?

Anyway, back to normal: YORE MA, HUH

Basically I write and I write and I write... and watch a lot of television. I send articles to my local newspapers and have had a few work placements at them. Try and get experience/internships at small papers or even radio stations during the Summer maybe?

OK thanks, we've got three or four newspapers around here, I'll try and get in touch with them during half term; I know I said a few posts back I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but something akin to a political journalist would really attract me

Another thing I wanted to be as a (younger) kid: A clown,, even got an audition for Zippos Circus aged 7 (I wish I was joking, my mom tells everyone that)

It could easily happen. In 30 years time, even the moderately rich will be space tourists - get saving!

I went through stages of wanting to be a footballer, shopkeeper, inventor and scientist

oh yeah, if space tourism becomes accessible, i'm there.

but teh chances of me being a fully fledged astronaut and leading a mission "where no one has gone before" are slim, much as i hate to admit it!
