Amsterdam.. Hotel/Apart

Hi.. myself and my friend are going to amsterdam for three nights at the end of June.. decent hotels seem non existent unless you go 5star. Anyone any good recomendations for central hotels?.. Was also looking at renting a sort term apartment, works out at €250 would really appreciate some guidance on this :confused: :)
