RGT grades

    g'day,
    just wondering of anyone here has done any of the RGT grades. I've ordered the books for grade 7 guitar & bass which I plan on getting so that I can sit the teaching diploma. I'm curious to see if anyone has done them and what they thought of them.

    I'm about to sit the Levals 4 & 5 exams in June. I decided to go with the RGT structure as was playing for ages but with no formal theoretical background in music. What I've found excellent about it is the structure and that it pushes you to work on the areas that you're weaker on and don't like that all contribute to improving your all round playing.

    May not be for everyone but worked very well for my needs

    I agree, it's certainly making me focus on areas I never would have bothered going near which I find great for song writing & improvising. Have you any idea what the craic is with the exams? There does'nt seem to be many people doing it over hear so I'm curious as to whether they would bother coming over or just hold the exams in Belfast.

    I mailed them before submitting the apllication and they said that they couldn't guarantee it'll be on but it has every previous year so unlikely that this year would be any different. Possible locations are examiner's houses and some of the prominent music schools around town I heard.
