No. Vista drivers wont work, you'll need to use XP drivers. Surely if you bought it with XP installed, it has XP drivers already?

What voodoo said. If we are missing something here and you need drivers got to the dell support site and stick in your service tag found on the computer) and you can download the drivers from there.

Dell dont have XP drivers for the m1330 on there site anymore as it never shipped with xp installed :( you have to find them elsewhere most of them were here last time I needed them

If you need any other ones give me a shout I should have them somewhere.

You'll find the drivers in that thread above, or by doing a search of notebookreview.com. Someone will have put together a pack of drivers and hosted them somewhere.

You'll have a Vista licence for the M1330, regardless of what the previous owner did; there's no way that you don't since the machine is only sold with Vista. Check the bottom of the laptop for a licence key. If you've got one, it means you can borrow a Vista disc off someone and install the OS using your key (perfectly legit). That'd be the handiest thing tbh, as you'll get all the drivers off the Dell site or Windows update, and Vista runs great on the M1330.

Dell will send you out os recovery discs at a small cost or maybe free if you ask I'm sure, your machine should have a license sticker for vista on the bottom, if it does well dell should send recovery discs out, Installing XP on it is only a option if you can find stable drivers for all hardware components, which in allot of cases may not be possible, reading the thread linked above briefly people couldnt find working bluetooth or sound drivers for it, so it will probably be less of a headache going the vista route, its not that bad anyways...
