third broken spoke in about 3 weeks.

Is this the sign of something bigger being wrong and is it time to get a new wheel(s) rather than patching up this one. have the bike about two years

What type of wheels are they, how many spokes are on them and what do you weigh?

I have the same wheels (came with my Giant Bowery) and am just a bit lighter than you, same experience, have broken a couple of spokes. Doesn't happen on any of my other wheels and I have enough of them. The two spoke breakages happened early on and since replacement the wheels have been fine.
